Terrific Pop-out ArtBox lesson with Susie Cox

Today we had art with Susie Cox from Artbox. She taught us how to do 3 dimensional pop-out art. This was based on the art of local artist Miranda Parks who lives in Lyttelton and makes 3D artworks using patterns like dots, squiggles, lines and stripes.

First she showed us a picture of Miranda Parks artwork which was painted on pieces of scrunched up paper. Then we used a piece of soft paper that goes in a coffee machine. We had to cut off the bumpy bits that were on the side and open it to reveal a shape that looked like wings. After that she told us to use the felts to make our own patterns. Then we got a small square of cardboard and decorated it. Finally we scrunched up the first piece of soft paper and we put it on the cardboard with double-sided tape.

After we finished the art we went around the tables to look at eachothers. We all thought that everyone's looked good with lots of colours all through it, and every one was different. Lastly we talked about which ones we liked and why we liked them.

Here are our finished pop-arts.

Information reports

Room 10 are learning to write information reports this is one of them.
Tackle Rugby by Hugh

Tackle rugby is a outdoor sport played in teams. The team with the ball has to try to score, while the other tea have to tackle them and try to get the ball.
If your good you get to represent a team or place.

The fields that the rugby players play on are muddy and soft but in some places hard. The rugby players are; big, bulky, tough and fast.

Rugby players are often found in stadiums or on a field but can also be found in: a park, school house beach and even on TV.

People who play rugby behave mad when the other team score and glad when they score or win the game!

I think that tackle rugby is a great sport and lots of people will play it for a long time.
